Bridging the gap between theatre and performance installation, this ten minute theatrical happening is performed inside a working elevator. In SWEDEN, written by Greg MacArthur, audiences become part of an unsettling sequence of events where the space between performer and audience is eliminated pushing the boundaries of artistic form while exploring concepts of discrimination, corporatization, our apathy at exploiting humans for profit and our implied silent complicity in that.

SWEDEN (Commission funds provided by Workshop West Theatre) is part of Theatre Yes’ National Elevator Project. The National Elevator Project, one of the first events of its kind in Canada, is a series of 16 short play between three- twelve minutes in length that require audience members to ride elevators with actors placing them in the thick of one-of-a kind performance experiences. Theatre Yes, which fearlessly engages audiences via innovative performances sourced from down the block, across the country and around the world.
